Mrs. Bickel's Classroom

Here is a photo of the quilt made by Mrs. Bickel's Full Day Early Childhood Class at Christ Community Lutheran School. We are sending our creation to Big Lake Elementary School in Big Lake, Alaska. The children wanted to paint their handprints on the quilt with hearts on them as a sign of friendship. Each child has been working hard this year to write their name, so writing their name by their handprint was a big deal to them. We are very excited to take part in the "Common Thread Quilt" project through the 2008 Iditarod and hope Big Lake enjoys receiving this quilt as much as we did making it.

Our preschool is in Crestwood, Missouri.

I'm sorry that our school's location is not posted. Our preschool is in Crestwood, Missouri (a suburb of St. Louis). There was another quilt sent by the second graders at our school - you can view it under "A Quilt From Missouri". In fact it was a team effort, we sewed, quilted, and mailed both of them together.

Your students sure are happy! Thank you, friend.

I love this idea. There is nothing like a child's handprint with their names written in the early stages of writing!
